While I was in New York I caught up with Steven Onoja, who happens to be a menswear blogger from New York. This crazy game of social media makes the world ten times smaller, for the good and at times for the bad. The good comes with meeting great people such as Steve who are like me and share the same ambitions and are like-minded. Surrounding one self with like-minded individuals really helps you to get a grasp on the game of life and put things into clearer perspective. Also reminding you that NO! You are not alone and we are all out here trying to get it but loving what we do all at the same time.
Your circle of people you see on a day to day basis whether its at work, school, or just on the street is a great way to meet like minded individuals. Social media is another source that works in this manner, it all relates to the six degrees of separation. If your friends or people you follow on social media platforms have similar interests as you, they probably know many other people who have the same interests. Since birds of the same feather tend to flock together. Even if they don’t share your interests, they might know someone who does. Even beyond that, word of mouth is an excellent referral tool by just asking around and extending to 2nd degree, or 3rd degree contacts, you might find yourself a list of like-minded new friends.
Mind you even though I was thrilled to be spending some time in New York meeting and greeting with people. I did have the worst luck with timing while I was in New York supposedly it was one of the coldest few days ever recorded. My mind you, it was my first time ever experiencing winter in New York. Don’t get me wrong Canadian winters crush the weather New Yorkers have to deal with. But I was not at all prepared for what I was going to deal with. I was under the impression that. “Oh no snow on the ground, pfft!! them Americans don’t know nothing about that winter life”. I’ve learned the hard way.
